Dr. Thomas A. Stout, OD, FAAO

Dr. Stout is a native West Virginian, born in Clarksburg and raised in Bridgeport. He attended West Virginia University, receiving his baccalaureate degree in chemistry, and graduating Summa Cum Laude. Grant early admission to Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, Dr. Stout received his Doctorate in 1980. He also completed a specialty internship in ocular disease at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia.

Opening his Morgantown office in 1980, Dr. Stout provides primary eye care, ocular disease treatment, pediatric vision care, and prescribes contact lenses. He lectures nationally on ocular surface disease, such as allergy and dry eye treatment. As a consultant for Bausch & Lomb, Dr. Stout lectures on advances in contact lens designs to his colleagues. He also serves on the optometric consulting panel for several pharmaceutical companies, and is a member of a national practice management consulting group.

He has been an invited speaker at such national forums as the American Optometric Association, Southern Educational Conference, and Vision Expo International. Dr. Stout has been appointed to adjunct faculty status at the WVU School of Pharmacy, where he lectures on contact lens care and ocular disease medications.

Dr. Stout is an avid fly fisherman, but fishing more than catching! He enjoys traveling, and has been learning to play old time traditional music on his great grandfather’s fiddle.
